NYC Death Metal 1986 – 1997
WSOU 89.5 FM was very close on the FM dial to WKCR 89.9 FM, so it was not unusual to pass by WSOU while searching for WKCR. How could you hearĀ Whiplash’s “Nailed to the Cross” and not push the record button??
Although there are only a few recordings here, I would tune in to their late night broadcasts regularly in the late 1990s while I was working around the clock as a TV commercial video editor and nobody else was around.
These recordings might have had an influence on The Great DJ Shakey (my sister, Julie Covello) who, several years later, pioneered live streaming video at Pseudo.com in 1999. She hosted “The Near Death Experience” in the persona of SheBeast. The show featured a wide range of new and classic Death Metal plus other Metal classics.
