About Bishop Randolph Goodwin – WHBI/WNWK 105.9 FM – Sometimes I would record a show on 105.9 FM on a Saturday night and fall asleep with the radio on. At about 7:00 a.m. on Sunday mornings, I would be awakened by the crescendo of Bishop Randolph Goodwin‘s sermons. I am not a religious person, but I still found his messages inspiring.

I donated some money to The Holy Temple Church in the Bronx and received their newsletter pamphlet for a few years.

In 1989, I was producing a track for a local MC in Paterson, NJ – MC Power Play, The Grand Imperial of Lyrics (now known as Dirty Red in the Atlanta, GA area) – and used some clips of Bishop Randolph Goodwin to punctuate the rhyme. The track “It’s Got To Be Real” can be heard in the Weevie Remixes & Originals section.

Later, in 2002, DJ Shakey borrowed the persona of Bishop Randolph Goodwin and other preachers in her self-produced track, “Props to the Crops” which proselytized the case for vegetarianism.

In the final tracks are recordings of two preachers who’s names I couldn’t find. If you know who they are, please send me a message.
